Well Properties: Formations Tab
The Formations tab displays information about geological formations stored in the database. You will need to add a formation in this dialog before it can be seen in the Tops page.
Formation Table Columns
The formations table lists all of the formation currently in the project. Type a search string into the search bar, or select a filter to limit the information in the list. For additional selection and navigation options right click on the formation list to access the shortcut menu.
Formation: The unique ID of the formation.
Abbreviation: The formation's abbreviation.
Full Name:The long name for the formation.
Formation Fields
Use to fields to add or edit the information that appears in the formation table.
Formation ID: The unique ID of the formation.
Abbreviation: The formation's abbreviation.
Full Name:The long name for the formation.
Formation Table Operations
Delete Unused:Press this button to delete any unused formations from the
database.
Unused formations are formations without any associated tops.
Add:
Add
information specified in the dialog as a new formation.
Update:
Save
any modifications to the current formation to the database.
Delete:Delete the currently selected formations. You cannot delete
a
formation if there are tops for any wells that currently reference the
formation. In order to delete the tops first you need to go
to
either the Tops or Advanced Tops pages.
