Volumetrics Calculator: Start Page

The Volumetrics Calculator calculates the volume of recoverable hydrocarbons.  The application behaves similar to a spreadsheet, allowing inputs to be entered at each step of the calculation, and providing output for intermediate results, as well as the final result.

General Information

Question: How do you want to specify the Gross Pay Rock Volume?

Choose one of the three options to determine how   Each choice will cause a difference form to display for the second stage of the calculation, on the Structure page of the wizard.

By selecting top and base grids, oil/gas contact and hydrocarbon/water contact in subsea values: All structural details may be entered, including inclusion and exclusion polygons, top and base grids, and contact values on this structure page.

By selecting a thickness grid: A thickness grid may be selected, along with optional inclusion and exclusion polygons on this structure page.

By entering the volume directly: The Gross Pay Rock Volume may be entered as a number, or calculated from the Gross Pay Area and Average Thickness fields on this structure page.  In addition, for this option only, ratios on the Parameters wizard page will only be entered as numbers, not as grids.

Units of Measure

Input

Specify the units for the input grids.

Grid Surface Units: Shows the surface unit of measure applied to grids, as determined from the project coordinate system.

Grid Depth Units: Shows the depth unit of measure for grid and contact values, as determined from the project setup.

Output

Specify the units for the results.

Gross Pay Area Units: Select the unit of measure for entering and viewing Gross Pay Area values.

Average Thickness Units: Select the unit of measure for entering and viewing Average Thickness values.

Rock Volume Units: Select the unit of measure for entering and viewing Gross Pay Rock Volume and Net Pay Rock Volume values.

Hydrocarbon Volume Units: Select the unit of measure for entering and viewing hydrocarbon volume values.

Other controls

Load Calculation: Load a previously saved calculation into the Volumetrics Calculator, allowing further changes to be performed.
