Time/Depth Velocity Modeling: Toolbars

The Time/Depth Velocity Modeling window has three toolbars, used to access the tools needed to perform your calculation, as well as a status bar.

Time/Depth Velocity Modeling Toolbars

Standard Toolbar

Load Parameters: Load a saved time/depth conversion.

Save Parameters: Save the current time/depth conversion.

Time to Depth Properties: Open the Properties dialog, used to define the gridding method and bounds for the calculations, and select the data to use.

Convert Time to Depth/Convert Depth to Time: Choose between time to depth conversion, or depth to time conversion. Changing this will start a new time/depth conversion, and remove any existing layers from the Layers dialog box.

Seismic Datum: This field displays the seismic datum that has been set for the project. It is for your information, and can't be edited. This is used to calculate subsea depth values.

Cell Size: Enter the cell size, in map units, for the output grids. You can also change this value on the General Properties tab in the Properties dialog box.

Depth Units: Select the depth units for the output grid. This will default to the depth units of the project.

Properties Toolbar

Add Layer: Create a new entry in the Layers dialog box. This entry will be blank, and you will need to make data selections.

Copy: Save a copy of the currently selected layer, including the Layer Details selections, to the clipboard.

Paste: Paste the copied layer to the Layers dialog box.

Delete: Delete the layer currently selected in the Layers dialog box.

Move Layer Up: Move the selected layer up in the Layers list. Shallower layers should be listed above the deeper layers.

Move Layer Down: Move the selected layer down in the Layers list. Deeper layers should be listed below the shallower layers.

Run Layer: Perform the time/depth calculation for a single layer. After performing a calculation for a single layer, you may see warnings on deeper layers (), showing that the calculation is out of date. Click the Run Conversion icon () on the Run/Convert toolbar to rerun the calculation for all layers, and remove these warnings.

Run/Convert Toolbar

Run Conversion: Perform the time/depth calculations for all layers.

Convert Depth: Open the Time/Depth Conversion application, used to convert seismic data, horizons, and faults between time and depth using a velocity model. To create a velocity model, from the Tools menu, select Generate Velocity Model.

Status Bar

Status Bar: Displays the X, Y, and Z values when you are moving your cursor over the thumbnail images in the Display Grids dialog box.
