System Configuration

The System Configuration dialog is used to configure your monitor display and to specify the default locations for certain files. You can specify the location of your project list file, change the default location of your SeisWare Geology projects, and create connections to Surfer, GeoSyn, and ESRI databases.

Monitor Settings

The monitor settings are used to determine the aspect ratio for drawing images. If you notice that your well symbols are oval and your UTM grids are rectangular instead of square, modify the screen settings to get the scaling working properly.

Monitor Width: Specify the width of your primary monitor in millimeters.  For example, if you have a 21 inch monitor the value would be around 400.

Monitor Height: Specify the height of your primary monitor in millimeters.

Internet Updates

Internet Update Check: Turn this on to automatically check for software updates, including patches and major releases, every time you open the software.

Geology Settings

3D Geology Cache: Specify the default location of your SeisWare 3D Geology projects. A SeisWare Geology project folder will be created in this location the first time you open a geology project from the Main Launcher.

Support Directory Settings

Support Folder: The location of the folder with all the SeisWare support files.  Normally you will not modify this value.  Use the Explore button to navigate to this folder and view the default support files, including default palettes, well symbols, and montage templates.

User Support Folder: Specifies the location of the folder that contains per-user support file overrides.  Typically this folder will contain a user's personal project list file. Use the Explore button to navigate to this folder.

All Users Support Folder: Specifies the location of the folder that contains support file overrides for all users.  Place your project list file here to share it with all users on your system. Use the Explore button to navigate to this folder.

Project List File: The name and location of the project list file.  Normally you will not modify this, however you may want to change this value in order to access common projects on a network, or to share project lists between users. Use the Explore button to navigate to the folder that contains this file.

Set To User Support: Sets the project list file to be contained in the folder defined by User Support Folder.  Clicking this value will not copy the project file, but merely assigns it a new name.

Set To All Users Support: Sets the project list file to be contained in the folder defined by All Users Support Folder.  Clicking this value will not copy the project file, but merely assigns it a new name.

Advanced Tip: You can embed environment variables in the name of the project list file.  Typically you would use this to provide separate project lists for each user.  As an example you might set the project list file to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Zokero\SeisWare\Support\ProjectList_%USERNAME%.txt.  The %USERNAME% part of the name with get replaced with the actual login name of the user.

External Application Settings

Surfer Folder: This is the location that contains the main Surfer executable.  This is normally detected automatically, but you may need to set this manually. This allows users to access additional gridding algorithms. If you have multiple versions of Surfer installed, use this to set which version should be used.

GeoSyn Folder:This specifies the location of the main GeoSyn executable.  If you do not have GeoSyn this field will be blank.  his is normally detected automatically, but you may need to set this manually.

Use GeoSyn paths for LAS files:If this item is turned on, SeisWare will use GeoSyn paths to find LAS files when displaying well criteria on the map.  When turned off SeisWare looks for LAS files in the local project folders.  This item is only meaningful if GeoSyn is installed on the client machine.

ESRI Folder:This is the location that contains the SDE dynamic link library.  This needs to be set if you are wanting to create linked culture layers to an SDE database.

Configuration Operations

OK: Apply any changes made to the configuration.  You will normally need to restart the application after applying any changes.
