Import Culture: Coordinate Systems

Use the Coordinate Systems page to specify a coordinate system for source file, the destination project, or both. You can also convert from latitude/longitude for some input formats.

Coordinate Parameters

Enter the coordinate parameters for the source file and destination project.

Convert from latitude/longitudes to XY: Turn this on if the file contains data in latitudes and longitudes. You need to select a Destination Coordinate Systemto convert the coordinate.

Source Coordinate System: The coordinate system of the input culture files. Select a coordinate system by clicking . By default this is set to the coordinate system in the Project Properties dialog. If you have obtained culture files with a different coordinate system from that of your project (such as a neighboring UTM zone) you can set this value to automatically convert the files to the project's coordinate system.

Destination Coordinate System: This is the destination coordinate system for the project. Select a coordinate system by clicking . By default this is set to the coordinate system in the Project Properties dialog. It is best to set this in the project properties rather than in this dialog.

Note: If you do not have a coordinate system defined for the Source and Destination Coordinate System fields will initially be blank. If you are importing latitude/longitude data you must set a Destination Coordinate System. If you are converting data between coordinate systems you need to set both the Source and Destination Coordinate Systems.
