SEG-Y Export: Bulk Shifts

The Bulk Shifts page allows you to specify how to handle bulk shifts for export.

Apply Bulk Shifts

Apply bulk shift from the database: Check this item to apply the bulk shifts found in the SeisWare database to the exported SEG-Y files. The seismic traces will be physically shifted down by the bulk shift amount. Bulk shifts are rounded to the closest sample point. Leave this item unchecked to export the data as it was originally found in the source SEG-Y files.

When Applying Negative Bulk Shifts: Negative bulk shifts can cause problems when exporting SEG-Y files. Either the start time of the file needs to be adjusted, or the data needs to be truncated at the top so that the data correctly starts at time zero.

Only adjust the header values: Selecting this item adjusts the start time stored in the binary header. Not all packages will read this value. This is the "Start Z" file header keyword.

Truncate the trace data: Selecting this item will cause the exported data to be truncated to the zero start time of the data. This means that some of the upper samples of trace data with negative bulk shifts will be discarded in the export. Many packages do not read the header values, so frequently this will be the best option. As an example, if you have a bulk shift of -10 ms and a sample rate of 2 ms, 5 samples of trace data will be discarded when the file is exported.
