Import Culture: Extents

Use the Extents page to restrict the size of the culture layer based on a geographical region, or within a polygon.

Optional Import Restrictions

Define a geographical region to restrict the extents of the culture layer. Manually enter minimum and maximum X and Y coordinates, or click , and select a region directly from the Basemap. If an object in a layer is located outside of the defined area, it won't be imported. If an object in a layer is partially located within the boundary, the entire object will be imported.

Minimum X: Specify the western (left) boundary of the geographical region in map units.

Maximum X: Specify the eastern (right) boundary of the geographical region in map units.

Minimum Y: Specify the southern (bottom) boundary of the geographical region in map units.

Maximum Y: Specify the northern (top) boundary of the geographical region in map units.

Select From Map: Click this button, and then left click and drag out an area on the Basemap. The Minimum and Maximum X and Y fields will become populated based on your selection. If you click this button by accident, click it again to abort the operation.

Clear: Clear the optional import restrictions.

Constraining Polygons

Select an existing polygon to restrict the extents of the culture layer. The importer only clips out entire objects if no part of the layer is contained within the polygon. If an object within a layer crosses a polygon boundary the entire layer will be imported.

Polygons: Open the Select Polygon dialog to select an existing closed polygon to use to restrict the extents of import.
