Log Editor: Toolbars

The Log Editor has four toolbars that let you quickly access the tools you need to customize your display, and edit curves and formation tops.

Log Editor Toolbars

Standard Toolbar

 

Load: Open a previously saved template.

Save: Save any log curves that have been edited. You will be prompted to enter a Name, Source, and Description for each edited log curve in the order that they are displayed.

Print: Print the display for the current well. The standard windows print dialog will appear, allowing you to specify the printer to use, and the number of pages to print.

Print Preview: Launch a print preview for the current well. To change the display, open the Print Properties dialog () from this window.  

Print properties:Launch the Print Properties dialog.  

Help: Display the help for the Log Editor application.

Track Toolbar

 

Properties: Open the General Track Properties, which control the overall appearance of the log editor, including vertical scaling and formation tops display.

Add Track: Add a log curve track to your well display using the Select Curve Alias dialog box. To change the setting for the curve after it has been inserted, right click on the curve and select Track Propertiesfrom the shortcut menu. 

Add Synthetic: Add a synthetic track to your well display using the Synthetic Properties dialog box. To change the settings for the synthetic after it has been inserted, right click on the curve and select Track Propertiesfrom the shortcut menu. 

Add Velocity Curve: Add a velocity curve track to your well display. By default, the active velocity curve will be displayed. To change the settings for the velocity curve after it has been inserted, right click on the curve and select Track Propertiesfrom the shortcut menu. 

Add Seismic Track: Add a seismic track to your well display using the Seismic Properties dialog box. To change the setting for the seismic track after it has been inserted, right click on the track and select Track Properties from the shortcut menu.

Edit Well Tops: Add, edit, or delete a well top.

Edit Well Zones: Add, edit, or delete a well zone.

Stop: Stop the current operation.

Undo: Undo one previous operation. This can be used multiple times.

Redo: Redo an operation that you have undone.

Zoom Toolbar

 

Zoom To Fit: Adjust the vertical zoom to display the entire depth range.

Vertical Zoom: Zoom the display vertically.

Zoom In: Zoom a track vertically and horizontally. All of the tracks will have the vertical zoom applied.

Zoom Out: Zoom out vertically by 50%.

Previous Zoom: Restore the previous zoom.

Define Home: Define a home location using a depth range, a time range, or a tops location.

GoTo Home: Zoom to the defined home location.

or  Talk: Turn talking on () to have your active Log Editor talk to other open Log Editor windows. This applies to vertical zoom and scrolling operations. 

or Listen: Turn listening on () to have your open Log Editor windows listen to your active Log Editor window. The active Log Editor must have talking turned on. This applies to vertical zoom and scrolling operations. 

Edit Toolbar

Draw: Freehand drawing on the curve.

Draw Line: Straight line drawing on the curve.

Zap: Makes a feature into a straight line. Useful for removing spikes.

Straight Line:Draws a straight line between two points on the curve.

Shift Up or Down: Shifts the curve vertically.

Clip Right: Removes all values that are to the right of a specific value.

  Clip Left: Removes all values that are to the left of a specific value.

Crop Top: Removes a portion of the curve at the top.

Crop Bottom: Removes a portion of the curve at the bottom.

Stretch/Squeeze Curve with Depth Pairs: Stretch and squeeze portions of a curve using depth pairs associated with a reference track.

Select: Highlights a portion of the curve. Other edit modes such as copy requires a portion of the curve to be selected.

Cut: After a portion of the curve has been selected with the Select Icon, use this to remove that curve portion and place it into the clip board. This may then be pasted into another curve.

Copy:  After a portion of the curve has been selected with the Select Icon, use this to copy that curve portion and place it into the clip board. This may then be pasted into another curve.

Paste: This will allow a user to paste a portion of a curve that has been copied or cut. The region that the curve was cut or copied from will be displayed. You can simply click on it to paste it at the default location, or click and drag it to where it should be pasted.

Average:Smooths a selected region of the curve using averaging.

Block: Blocks a selected region of a curve.

Scale: Scale a selected region of the curve up or down.  

Shift Left or Right: Shifts the selected region of the curve horizontally.

Highlight Curve Using Cutoff: Displays which samples of the selected region of the curve met a criteria.

Stretch/Squeeze Velocity Curve: Tie curve data to seismic data by editing the velocity curve.
