Select Polygons

Constraining polygons are often used in SeisWare applications to limit the geographical extents of the data being used in a operation. A polygon is considered to be any closed culture layer. For example, it may be a land boundary, or a closed contour.

Available Layers

Select one or more polygons from the list and then use the selection arrows to move the layers to the Inclusion Polygons or Exclusion Polygons list. To help you select a culture layer, you can sort any of the columns by clicking on the column header, you can apply a filter (), or you can type a search string into the search bar.

Inclusion Polygons

This area will display a list of culture layers to be used as inclusion polygons. The data contained within an inclusion polygon will be included in your operation. For example, if you are creating a grid, any data within your inclusion polygon will be included when creating the grid.

Note on clearing operations:When you are performing a clearing operation (Grid Clear, Horizon Clear, Fault Clear), any data within your inclusion polygon will be used in the clearing operation. To keep the data within a polygon when clearing, you must set an Exclusion polygon.

Exclusion Polygons

This area will display a list of culture layers to be used as exclusion polygons. The data contained within an exclusion polygon will not be included in your operation. For example, if you are creating a grid, any data within your exclusion polygon won't be included when creating the grid. This may be useful if you have large area with no wells or seismic data.
