Spectral Decomposition: Output
The Spectral Decomposition: Output dialog allows you to set the options for the output files.
Frequency
Start Frequency: Specify the first frequency to be used. If generating a frequency slice, then this is the frequency of the first slice in the slice file. If generating discrete frequency/time slices, this is the discrete frequency used to generate a slice file. The start frequency defaults to 1.
End Frequency: Specify the last frequency to be used. If generating a frequency slice, then this is the frequency of the last slice in the slice file. If generating discrete frequency/time slices, this is the discrete frequency used to generate a slice file. Make this value equal to the start frequency to generate one slice file.
Frequency Increment: Specify the frequency increment to be used. If generating a frequency slice, then the number of slices will be the end frequency minus the start frequency divided by the frequency increment. If generating discrete frequency/time slices, when the start frequency and end frequency are not equal this increment is added to the start frequency to determine the discrete frequency used to create an additional slice file. The frequency increment defaults to 1.
Output
Values:
You can
output either amplitude or phase from the Fourier
transformation. Amplitudes are typically used to visualize geological
features and phase is typically used to visualize faults.
Normalize Amplitudes: This option is only available when outputting amplitudes for a frequency slice. It allows you to normalize the data for each frequency slice, which is also called spectral balancing. The values of each slice are multiplied by a scale factor, which is determined by setting the median value to 1.
Slice File
Slice Group: Enter a slice group name for the output file. You can create a new slice group by simply typing in a new name, or you can pick an existing on from the drop down list. By selecting a slice group, you will be able to see the frequency slices on the Basemap.
Description: Enter a description for the output file. When generating discrete frequency/time slices, the frequency for the slice file will be appended to the description. The description will appear in Line Properties and other dialogs.
Output Folder: Specify a location for the output slice file.
Output SEG-Y
When you are generating a discrete frequency time slice, best practice is to output a SEG-Y file. The bulk shift of the SEG-Y file will be zero, and the SEG-Y file and slice file can be bulk shifted independently from the SEG-Y file from which they were generated.
Description: Enter a description for the SEG-Y file. The description will appear in Line Properties and other dialogs. This is optional.
Output Folder: Specify a location for the output SEG-Y file.
Output Type: Specify the output type for the SEG-Y file to help identify the dataset. The default value is SPEC.
Version: Specify the version for the SEG-Y file to help identify the dataset. The default value is 1.
