Well Import: Curve Parameters

The Curve Parameters page of the Well Import wizard allows you to specify additional parameters when importing log curves.

Load Curves of Type

Specify the type of log curves to load.  This is an easy way to reduce the clutter in a project by limiting the curves you are interested in.

Sonic: Check this item to load in all sonic curves.

Density: Check this item to load in all density curves.

Gamma Ray: Check this item to load in all gamma ray curves.

All curves: Check this item to load in all the curves in the input files.

Generate Velocity Curves

SeisWare has the ability to generate velocity curves from both sonic and density log curves.  Velocity curves are used to convert depth data to time.  Automatically generating velocity curves will allow you to display your well data in the Seismic Viewer immediately after importing the data.

From sonic: Check this item to generate a velocity curve from the sonic curve.  Occasionally SeisWare will fail to generate a velocity curve from the sonic.  This is usually because the units of the sonic are incorrect or missing, or the sonic contains invalid data. Note: If there is more than one sonic curve in the file the velocity curve will be generated from the last sonic curve found.

Velocity Curve Name: Specify a name for the generated velocity curve.

From density: Check this item to generate a velocity curve from the density curve.  The density curve is first converted to a sonic using Gardner's equation.  Occasionally SeisWare will fail to generate a velocity curve from the density.  This is usually because the units of the density are incorrect or missing, or the density contains invalid data. Note: If there is more than one density curve in the file the velocity curve will be generated from the last density curve found.

Density Curve Name: Specify a name for the generated velocity curve.
