Seismic Viewer: Synthetic Tools

You can access synthetic tools in the Seismic Viewer from the Well menu or using an associated icon on the Well Toolbar.

Synthetic Functionality

Generate Synthetic

or Generate Synthetic Track from the Well menu.

How Do I Generate a Synthetic in the Seismic Viewer

  1. Click on the Generate Synthetic icon or select Generate Synthetic from the Well menu to launch the Generate Synthetic dialog.

  2. Select the well from the Well list. Note: You can do this from the list, or by clicking on the well symbol in the Seismic Viewer or on the Basemap.

  3. Select the curve inputs. Note: As a minimum, you will need a sonic curve and a velocity curve.

  4. Set your wavelet parameters. All parameter changes are reflected in the image as they are updated on the fly until the synthetic is saved.

  5. Select if the synthetic should be displayed in a track, or as a synthetic trace.

  6. Left click on the seismic display where you want the synthetic inserted. The synthetic should appear where you clicked. Note: you can still modify the wavelet parameters at this point and the synthetic will update to show these changes. 

  7. Close the dialog when finished.

Insert a Saved Synthetic

or Load Database Synthetic from the Well menu.  

How Do I Insert a SEG-Y Synthetic Track

  1. Open the Load Database Synthetic dialog using the icon or menu selection.

  2. Select the Well.

  3. Select the Synthetic.

  4. Select the display method.

  5. Click on the seismic display to where you want the synthetic inserted.

  6. Repeat the process, or close the dialog.

Move Synthetic

or Move Synthetic Track from the Well menu  .

How Do I Move a Synthetic

  1. Select the icon or menu option.

  2. Click on the synthetic track, hold down the mouse button, and drag the selection to the new location.

  3. Release the mouse button in the new position. This move will not change the synthetic location in time.

Note: To cancel the move press the Esc key on your keyboard before finishing the operation.


Bulk Shift Synthetic Track

or Bulk Shift Synthetic track from the Well menu .


How Do I Bulk Shift a Synthetic

  1. Select the icon.

  2. Click on the synthetic track, hold down the mouse button and drag to the new location.

  3. Release the mouse button in the new position. This shift affects the velocity curve by updating the replacement velocity.

Note: To cancel the move press the Esc key on your keyboard before finishing the operation.

Delete Synthetic

orDelete Synthetic Track from theWell menu 

How Do I Delete a Synthetic Track

  1. Select the icon or menu option.

  2. Click on the synthetic track in the display. 

Note: To cancel the move press the Esc key on your keyboard before finishing the operation.

Delete All Synthetic Tracks

Delete All Synthetics from the Well Menu  .

How Do I Delete All Synthetic Tracks

  1. Select the Delete all Synthetic Tracks option from the Well Menu. All synthetic tracks that have been overlaid in that viewer will be removed.
