Basemap: File Menu
The File menu is used to access saved map attributes and printing tools.
File
Load Properties:Load a saved map properties file.
Save Properties:Save the current map settings in a map properties file. This file remembers the current scale, which layers are turned on and in which order, the zoom level and any other properties set for the map. This is useful for setting up maps for plotting and then saving the map properties. These map properties files can then be loaded and maps quickly plotted.
Print: Prints the current map view. The standard windows print dialog will appear. This will allow the user to specify the number of pages and which printer to use. From here you can access the advanced printer properties.
Print Preview:Launches the print preview. This will allow the user to see the print before actually printing it. For the most part, the print preview is WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), though there may be minor variations due to resolution.
Page Setup:Launches the standard windows page setup dialog. Here you can select a printer and specify the page orientation (landscape vs portrait). Other settings may vary with the users printer.
Print Properties:Launches the Print Properties dialog.
Print Key Map to Metafile: Saves the key map as an enhanced metafile. Enhanced metafiles are high resolution files that can be imported into packages such as PowerPoint.
Print Full Map to Metafile:Saves the full map as an enhanced metafile.
Save Key Map as Raster File:Saves the key map as a GeoTIFF (*.tif, *.tiff) or a Windows *.bmp, *.jpg, *.png or *.gif format file. .
