User Roles

When a user is added to a project in User Properties they are assigned one or more roles. These roles are selected in the Detailed Properties dialog. You may also choose to automate the creation of new users with a default role, in the Login Configuration dialog.

Roles define the permissions that each user has in a project.  The roles have been set up in a hierarchy in which each higher role encompasses the permissions of the role below it.

There are four roles:

• Administrator
• Data Manager
• Standard
• Guest

The permissions associated with each role are summarized in the Roles Permissions Table.

User Roles

Administrator

This user has the highest level of permissions. They are responsible for setting up other users, and configuring the User Properties and Login Configurations for a project. This user can impersonate other users, and transfer ownership of data from one user to another. This user can import, create, modify, copy, export and delete data on behalf of themselves, or impersonating another user.

Data Manager

This user has the second highest level of permissions. They can impersonate other users and transfer ownership of data from one user to another. This user can import, create, modify, copy, export and delete data on behalf of themselves, or impersonating another user.

Standard

This user cannot impersonate another user. They can import, create, modify, copy, export and delete data on behalf of themselves. They can copy data owned by another user, creating a duplicate version that they own, and can then modify. When a user is logged in as a Standard user, editing options will be grayed out when they have selected data that isn't their own.

Guest

This user can only view existing data. They cannot import, create, modify, copy, export of deleted any data. When a user is a logged in as a Guest, most editing options will be grayed out.

* Can perform task as the Current User or impersonating another user.
