Getting Started: 2D Modeling/Cross Section

How do I create correlations and surfaces between wells?

Select Formations to Include in the Cross Section

  1. Click the Add/Edit Correlations icon (AddCorrelationIcon.png) to launch the Edit Correlations window. The table will be populated with the tops associated with the default well list, and well include top depths for each well.

  2. Remove the check mark from each formation that you don't want included in your cross section, or select a tops list from the Use Tops List selection menu.

  3. Click on a cell in the Correlation column to edit the properties for each correlation, including colors, fills, and interpolation behavior when creating a model. Optionally, select a depth grid from the Depth Grid list to create the surface between two wells.

Create a New Correlation

  1. In the Edit Correlations dialog box, click the Add Correlation icon ().

  2. Enter a name for the correlation.

  3. With the correlation added to the table, manually add the formation depth values to each well in the correlation table, or click the Edit Correlation icon () and then click on the formation depth at each well location.

  4. To save the new correlation and depth points as a formation top, in the Edit Correlations dialog box, click the Save Tops icon (SaveIcon.jpg)

Add and Move Inflection Points on Surfaces Between Wells

  1. Click the Add/Move Point icon ().

  2. Click on a surface between two wells. This will create a node that you can drag to a new location, manipulating the appearance of the surface.
