Map Scale: Use the drop down box to select from a list of predefined scales. You can also manually type in  a specific scale (the 1: is not required).  The scale can also be changed from General Basemap Properties , in the Project Specificsection of General Properties.
 Note: When a map is printed by default the current scaling of the Basemap is used.

 Listen: When this is turned on the map will mimic the scrolling and zooming of other Basemap windows if their "Talk" function is turned on.  Very useful if you have multiple Basemap windows displayed and want them to scroll in unison.

 Talk: When this is turned on the map will send out its scrolling and zooming information to other open Basemap windows so it can be mimicked if their "Listen" function is turned on.  Very useful if you have multiple Basemap windows displayed and want them to scroll in unison.
