Import Tools: Faults
The Import Fault Sets dialog box is used to select on or more columnar ASCII fault polygon files for import. When you select a .DAT file, the file is imported directly into the project. When you select any other columnar ASCII file, you are directed to the Import Fault Sets columnar ASCII import dialog box. You can open the dialog box from the File menu in the 3D View, Map View, and Section View windows, as well as the Fault Edit Controls dialog box.
Import Faults
When you import faults using a columnar ASCII file, you need to define columns for X and Y, used to create fault polygons. If the information is available, you can also define additional columns. These include Z, associated the X and Y values with a depth; Fault No; Fault, defining the name of the fault polygon; and Fault Set, associating the fault polygon with a group of faults.

- In the Import Fault Sets window, select a fault file. When you select anything but a .DAT file, this will open the Import Fault Sets columnar ASCII import dialog box
- Click

When you are loading a file with Fixed Width columns, click on the ruler above the data to create a column separator. Click again to remove it.
- Click the button at the top of each column and select the appropriate field name. Data from columns that aren't labeled will not be imported.
